Leo Nataf

Born in Paris in 1994, Léo Nataf is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Saint-Denis. A graduate of Central Saint Martins in London, his work moves between anthropology, memory, and ritual, exploring exile and ancestry through material transformation.
Guided by encounters and travels -from the Amazon to North Africa, where he is from- Nataf’s practice shapes contemporary relics that speak of metamorphosis and transmission. In his studio, fire becomes a language of transformation, fusing materials gathered along his journeys into sculptures and paintings suspended between the archaic and the futuristic.
Recently his works have been shown at Galerie Boulakia, Londres; Galerie Dumonteil, Paris; and Nil Gallery, Paris. As part of Nuit Blanche 2024, curator Victoria Jonathan invited Nataf to present his works at La Caserne, Paris.
For Hayom, Nataf created a ceramic Hanukkiah with a metallic glaze, inscribed with verses from the Book of Exodus. Its gold repair references kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending.
