STORY:

The pomegranate is one of the richest symbols in Judaism: it represents wisdom because it is said to have 613 seeds, each representing one of the 613 mitzvot (commandments); but it also appears as a symbol for growth, abundance and fertility. It is one of the symbolic foods we eat during the Rosh Hashanah seder, which is the Jewish new year and starts a new cycle of Holidays. Brooklyn-based artist Anne Mourier’s practice explores the Feminine archetype. For Seeds, she conceived unique hand blown glass pomegranate seeds as a way to suggest adaptation and renewal. She found inspiration in the story of Greek Goddess Persephone- also represented by a pomegranate- who is intertwined with the idea of cycles and seasons.
