Menorah | Hayom x Atelier George

STORY:
For Hayom, Atelier George is investigating the symbolic plants of the Bible: the vine leaf (for a kiddush cup) the branch of the olive tree (for a menorah) and the seven species (for an upcoming object).  Their menorahs are each unique and handmade in Burgundy, France. The base of the menorah is made on an olive branch imprint, captured in molten glass. Poured upon the plant, the matter encapsulates the shape and phantom of the natural element. From the dry leafs, frozen by fire, emerge solid glass forms that will become the candelabra we use for Hanukkah. The olive branch passes from one world to another, from vegetable to mineral, from fleeting to immutable. They are a symbol of peace.
