Multidisciplinary artist based in New York. Her works combine ceramic and mixed materials, archival research, social interventions and food. Yadid explores ideas of collective and subjective memory, through her personal history as a third generation Jewish-Israeli of Yemenite and Turkish descent who immigrated to the U.S. Her practice addresses the marginal spaces of diasporic identity by using food and hospitality as a vehicle to celebrate her diasporic culture. Freshly out of her MFA at Hunter College, New York, Maya Yadid has been featured in Hauser & Wirth online spotlight (2020). She has also graduated with a prize for excellence from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Israel (2011) and has participated in a fine art and curatorship program at Israel Museum (2003). Her work has been featured in group shows around the world including at the Georgio Cini Foundation, Venice, Italy and at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Tamaulipas, Mexico.

Maya Yadid’s practice delves into the central role played by food in the Jewish diaspora. For Hayom she created Judaica ceramics that are inspired by the action of kneading the challah bread, a tradition passed from generations in many Jewish families. By handling the clay roughly, as if it was the delicious Shabbat dough, she creates Judaica objects that are deprived of any straight line, echoing diasporic histories and paths.
